Account and Profile Information
When you set up ElderCheck, we collect:

- Family member names and contact information for dashboard access
- Emergency contact details
- Preferred check-in times and reminder schedules
- Medication and appointment information you choose to share for reminders
Voice Data and Conversations
As a voice-first assistant, ElderCheck processes voice data to function:
- Voice Recordings: Your voice interactions with ElderCheck are recorded and processed to understand your commands, questions, and responses
- Conversation Transcripts: Voice recordings are converted to text for processing and record-keeping
- Short-Term Memory: Recent conversation context is temporarily stored to enable natural, continuous dialogue
- Check-in Responses: Your responses to daily check-ins ("Did you sleep well?" "Did you take your medications?") are recorded and shared with authorized family members
- Reminder Confirmations: Your interactions with reminders and follow-up questions are logged
Usage and Device Information
We automatically collect:
- Device identification and internet connection information
- Check-in completion times and patterns
- Reminder creation, modification, and completion data
- Voice command frequency and types
- Device interaction logs (wake word activations, session durations)

Family Dashboard Information
Information accessible to authorized family members includes:
- Daily check-in completion status (completed, missed, partially completed)
- Reminder completion status
- General wellness summary (as permitted by primary user)

4. Family Dashboard and Data Sharing
User Control Over Family Access
As the primary user, you maintain control over what family members can see. By default, family members have access to:
- Daily check-in completion status (yes/no/partial)
- Alerts when you miss critical check-ins
- Reminders they create or manage for you
- General wellness summary information
You can modify these permissions at any time by asking ElderCheck or with family member assistance.
What Family Members Cannot Access
Unless explicitly authorized, family members cannot:
- Listen to your voice recordings or read full conversation transcripts
- See detailed responses to check-in questions
- Access medical information beyond reminder schedules you approve
- View your usage patterns or device interaction logs
Third-Party Service Providers
We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate ElderCheck:
- Cloud hosting and data storage providers
- AI and voice recognition technology providers
- Analytics and service improvement partners
- Customer support and communication services
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for authorized purposes.
We Do Not Sell Your Information
We will never sell your personal information, voice recordings, or usage data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
5. Voice Data and AI Processing
How Voice Data Is Processed
When you speak to ElderCheck:
- Your voice is captured by the device microphone after the wake word ("Hey ElderCheck")
- Audio is encrypted and sent to our secure servers for processing
- AI models transcribe and analyze your speech to understand intent
- Responses are generated and delivered back to your device
- Voice recordings and transcripts are stored for service delivery and improvement
AI Training and Improvement
We may use your voice data to:
- Improve speech recognition for senior users and various speech patterns
- Enhance natural language understanding for better conversations
- Train AI models to better detect missed check-ins or concerns
- Develop new features and capabilities
Voice data used for AI training is de-identified when possible. You may opt out of AI training use while still using the service.
Voice Recording Retention and Deletion
You have control over your voice recordings:
- Voice recordings are retained to improve service quality and for your reference
- You can request deletion of specific recordings or all recordings at any time
- Deleted recordings are removed from active systems within 30 days
- Some anonymized data may be retained for AI improvement purposes unless you opt out

- Access Controls: Strict access controls limit who can view your data

Important: While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your information.
7. Data Retention
We retain different types of data for different periods:
- Account Information: Retained while your account is active and for 90 days after cancellation (unless you request deletion)
- Voice Recordings: Retained for service improvement unless you request deletion
- Check-in History: Retained for 12 months for family dashboard access and pattern analysis
- Usage Logs: Retained for 6 months for technical support and service improvement
- Short-Term Memory: Conversation context is automatically cleared after 24 hours
Upon account cancellation, you may request immediate deletion of all data, or we will delete it automatically after the retention periods above.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of significant changes via:
